About BFIBFI Salzburg is the second largest institution for further education in the province of Salzburg. It promotes vocational training and is linked to the Chamber of Labour. Its main aim is to establish, preserve and improve the work-related opportunities of employees in Salzburg in the ever-changing labour market. BFI Salzburg considers itself as a partner of the employment service agency and part of the social system. BFI offers courses in business, digital production and multimedia, technical professions, tourism, foreign languages, social and health professions as well as diploma programmes. A total of 6,000 participants take part in the 500 courses offered per year. BFI Salzburg is the only adult education facility in Austria which operates as a fully recognised school for health and nursing in cooperation with many hospitals and care institutions for the elderly. The improvement of IT competence among Salzburg employees is a special concern, and intensive efforts are made in computer-assisted autonomous learning, individual coaching and distance learning.
